Overview

It is a common misconception amongst many Muslims that they refer to the Quran as being "Holy". Although we don't deny that the Quran certainly has attributes of holiness, yet there are two main reasons for which we should avoid using the term Holy Quran. They are,

1. The Quran itself does not refer to itself by its name, as Holy Quran. Rather it refers to itself as the Noble Quran, The Glorious Quran etc, but never as Holy Quran

2. When the christian hears us calling it as Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet, they would assume that just as the Holy Spirit, we Muslims also have an act of worship or ibadah towards the two. Therefore it would increase the misconceptions which non Muslims may have towards the use of this term
